What's the Difference?
Domestic flanges are manufactured in the USA, often preferred for:
- Buy American Act compliance
- Critical applications (nuclear, military, aerospace, etc.)
- Projects requiring full material traceability and mill test reports (MTRs) from U.S.-based mills
Import flanges are manufactured internationally, often in Europe, Asia, or the Middle East. They're widely used in commercial, industrial, and energy sectors, especially when:
- Cost efficiency is a priority
- Larger quantities are needed quickly
- Global standards (DIN, EN, JIS, GOST) apply
Quality Checks to Ask For
Whether domestic or import, these are the usual checks to specify:
- Verified to ASTM, ASME, API, or other required standards
- Dimensional checks, plus any added tests the project spec calls for
- Mill test reports (MTRs) and full documentation
